Ingredients & Substitutes
Instructions
- 1
Marinate 600 grams of white fish fillets with 2 tablespoons of lime juice, 1 teaspoon of salt, and 0.5 teaspoon of black pepper for at least 15 minutes.
- 2
Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large pot or Dutch oven over medium heat, then sauté 1 medium chopped onion and 3 minced garlic cloves until fragrant, about 3-4 minutes.
- 3
Add 1 large sliced red bell pepper and 1 large sliced green bell pepper to the pot, cooking for 5 minutes until they begin to soften.
- 4
Stir in 2 medium chopped tomatoes and continue to cook for another 5-7 minutes, allowing the tomatoes to break down slightly.
- 5
Gently place the marinated fish fillets on top of the vegetables in the pot, then pour in 400 ml of coconut milk and 2 tablespoons of dendê oil.
- 6
Bring the stew to a gentle simmer, cover the pot, and cook for 15-20 minutes, or until the fish is flaky and cooked through.
- 7
Sprinkle 0.25 cup of fresh chopped cilantro over the moqueca before serving immediately.
